Hi all. For the weekend, your only homework is to make sure you complete the Road to Revolution Timeline and the Common Sense reading and response by Monday. If you've already done that, enjoy your long weekend off. Scroll down to find the files and complete instructions for those two assignments. Here are the slides from today, for your reference.
For all those who were out during the strike--homework due Monday is to complete the timeline and the "Common Sense" reading posted below.
Hey, all. As a follow up to our conversations about the SEPTA strike and its impact on Election Day: a Clinton PAC has sponsored an Uber and Lyft promotion to get people to the polls for FREE if the strike lasts through election day. Pass this info along to friends, family, strangers--anybody who may have been counting on SEPTA to get to the polls.

Today, we did a short lesson on the Enlightenment (click here for slides), and watched the first 10 minutes of this video about the role of Philadelphia in the lead up to the Revolution.
Don't forget, the timeline posted and explained in the previous post is due tomorrow at the start of class!

Today In Class:
We discussed the status of the SEPTA strike and had a short lesson on the causes and effects of the French & Indian War. Click here for slides from today's lesson.
Homework: Road to Revolution Timeline (Due Friday 11/4 or your first day back)
Complete the timeline below using the slides and your textbook, pgs. 119-127 (accessible via schoolnet). Use the final three effects listed on the slide "French and Indian War: Results" to complete the section for 1763. For each of the remaining events, read the corresponding section in the textbook and summarize the event on the timeline.
As you're reading, consider how each event leads to the next, and how they would all push the colonies toward revolution.

Everybody stay safe during the strike and make sure you don't fall behind on your work. Fortunately, I doubt this strike will be as tumultuous as some of the 19th Century strikes we'll be covering in a few months. Check out this interesting video of a strike that turned into a miniature battle in Homestead, Pennsylvania in 1892.
PS: Shout outs to everyone who was proactive and emailed me in regarding their absence. However, the old "ask a question in the subject line and leave the email empty" isn't a great look. Check out this article for professional email etiquette.
